This year, debating has hit the ground running, with a record 55 students participating across 11 teams. Our Year 7 cohort is super keen and has shown great potential so far through after school mentoring sessions and our first initial introductory session. Many of our more experienced debaters have once again returned to test their skills as deep thinkers and wordsmiths. Teachers and mentors have been hugely impressed by the knowledge and motivation shown by all our junior debaters so far.
This year, our seasoned Year 12 debaters take on the role of mentors, guiding our juniors through the rigours and complex processes of debating. These busy students have given of their time to pass on the torch and teach their younger peers all the useful tips they’ve picked up throughout their many years of competing.
Kirrawee High School sees debating as both an art and a foundational life skill, and we are so proud of our students for taking the opportunity in 2020 to enrich their own learning through this worthwhile program. Go team!
