Open Boys Touch Football

The Open Boys Touch Football Team played two games this week in the Sydney East Knockout Competition.

Due to a forfeit in Round 1, a friendly game was organised at Caringbah High School, the old stomping grounds of Mr. Yu back in his glory days. Kirrawee won convincingly 5-1, preparing themselves for their future competition in the tournament.  Try scorers included Christopher Thomas and Jim Lamaro with their lightning speed, Nate Cooper and Nicholas Beattie with their unguarded dummy’s, and Zane Curtis with his high IQ.

The second round game which counted was against Cronulla High. The Koalas started off strong in the first half, with Joshua Moors scoring a hat trick of tries with his unmatched pace and the rest of team exhibiting an impenetrable defense. Additional tries by Jed Hardy, Jim Lamaro, Riley Lloyd and Christopher Thomas (with an unbelievable intercept try!) allowed Kirrawee to run away with an 8-4 victory.

The team comprises of:

Year 12 – Nate Cooper, Zane Curtis, Jai Elliott, Soakimi Faukaua, Tyler Field, Riley Lloyd, Joshua Moors

Year 11 – Nicholas Beattie, Myles Chabi, Jed Hardy, Christopher Thomas

Year 10 – Tyrell Fakaua, Jim Lamaro

Additionally, Fletcher Williamson (Year 11) has been an invaluable part to the team, sharing his insight and experience with the game. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!

Congratulations to the boys for their effort in the tournament thus far. Onto the next!
