KHS Athletics Carnival brings out Year 12 Movie Stars

Congratulations to all students who participated in events at the Athletics Carnival yesterday.  At Barden Ridge Athletics Track (8/5), on a beautiful Autumn Day (minus some excessive windy moments) our students did themselves, their sport houses and Kirrawee High School proud with their magnificent efforts on the track and in the field events.  As usual there were many outstanding athletic performances but just as impressive were the number of students who competed simply to “have a go” or to gain points for their House. Other students just wanted to see if they could bet their personal best.

Age Champions will be presented with their medals at the next school assembly. The Kirrawee High School Zone Athletics team will be announced shortly and I am sure this team will deliver further success at the zone carnival to be held later this term on Monday 24th June.

Our year 12’s came as their favourite movie stars and we had a range of characters including a 100m race of superheros including Spiderman, Batman and the Incredibles family.  It was great to see so many of year 12 enjoying their last KHS carnival.

Congratulations to the carnival winners Wanganui and the 20 athletes that set 25 new records in 2019.

1st Wanganui 817
2nd Kirk 760
3rd Duneba 517
4th Hunter 508
5th Serpentine 397

Many thanks to the Year 10 PASS students who assisted staff in the running of events. Thank you to Mr Williamson (Sport Coordinator) for once again organising a great carnival and another fantastic day of athletic achievement and our large community coming together.
