Kirrawee High TAS Faculty Supports the Local Community

A few months ago Sue Murray Physiotherapist who works at The Sutherland Hospital – Allied Health Department – Child Youth Y Family Services, reached out to the school asking if we would be able to provide them with invaluable “stretch boards”. This boards were needed to be used by young children to help them with their balance and feet issues like ‘toe walking’. Mrs Murray explained to the school that these were not items she could simply purchase as they needed to be specifically designed and manufactured for young children.

On receiving this request Head Teacher TAS, Mrs Rachel Saare put out the call to her staff and within days the project was complete. Mr Gordon Porter, TAS teacher, volunteered his own time to design and constructed 5 “stretch boards” which were presented to Mrs Murray over the last school holidays.

In the picture below Mrs Murray excitedly tries out the new boards which will be able to help hundreds of children into the future. It has always been a part of our School communities ethos to give back to the community and this is just one small example of how we try.
