Archaeology in practice

Mrs Morton’s Year 9 Elective History class put their archaeological skills to the test this week. After first learning the skills and activities of an archaeologist and investigating some Roman relics,  they first put their skills into practice on some chocolate chip cookies, uncovering the treasure that was chocolate chips.

After ensuring that their skills were up to scratch- it was down to the school archaeological pit.

The students dug, sifted and brushed the dirt aside in order to uncover the secrets of the past.

Some had success straight away!  And others learned that sometimes archaeology takes a lot of patience, but that persistence pays off.
