Year 10 Be Street Smart Road Safety
Event Date: 11/09/2019 - 11/09/2019
All Year 10 students are to attend the full day excursion to Qudos Arena Olympic Park, Homebush.
bstreetsmart is the inspiring initiative of the Trauma Service at Westmead Hospital. Westmead’s Trauma Service is constantly reminded through their hands on work that young people aged between 15-30, are disproportionally represented in road trauma. As a result they have a strong commitment to Road Safety Education.
The purpose of bstreetsmart is to reduce the fatality and injury rates of young people by promoting safe behaviour as drivers, riders and passengers.
Students are provided with first hand experiences and:
- An understanding of their responsibilities as a driver and as a responsible passenger
- Information and strategies to avoid serious injuries and death
- Information on how to reduce risk taking behaviour through greater awareness of the consequences of distracted driving, inattention, speeding, drink and drug driving and driver fatigue.
Travel to and from the venue will be by bus. Students will depart from Kirrawee High School at 8.10am and return at approximately 3pm (leave Homebush at 2pm).
The cost is $18 (eighteen dollars). Students will be invoiced. The money can be paid by cash, cheque or online payment.
Payments will be accepted up to and including Friday 6th September.
There are venues to purchase foods but as there are over five thousand people attending on the day so bringing your own lunch would be beneficial.
Full school uniform is mandatory. Students not in uniform on the day will remain at school.
Students will be supervised by PDHPE staff and other staff members.
