Essentially Ellington – KHS Stage Band

Event Date: 14/08/2019 - 14/08/2019

The KHS Stage Band has been entered into the 2019 Essentially Ellington Down Under Festival.

The date of the festival is Wednesday 14 August. This involves a performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, followed by a half hour workshop run by the adjudicator, from the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra.

Travel will be by train. Students will meet Miss Moroney at Sutherland station at 7:10am and travel to Martin Place.

The band will perform at 9:00am (audience members are welcome to attend) and the workshop will conclude at approximately 10:00am.  At the conclusion of the workshop, students will have supervised morning tea in the Botanical Gardens next to the Conservatorium.

Students and staff will then catch the train from Martin Place to Kirrawee station, and walk back to school arriving at approximately 12:30pm. Students will return to class from 12:30pm.

Uniform is all black, with the Stage Band blue ties. Students can wear their Big Band Blast jumpers for this excursion as they are representing the school as members of the Stage Band.

Please bring your instrument, water, food, spare reeds/leads/valve oil and a pencil (for the workshop). Students are also required to have the necessary equipment for their period 4 and 5 lessons upon their return to school.

Students are expected to make a genuine effort to catch up any class work missed as a result of attending this excursion.
