Stand Tall

On the 12 June the Kirrawee High Dance Department took a team of 16 dancers into the International Convention Centre in at Darling Harbour to perform in front of an audience of 6000 school students in the STAND TALL event. The event was aimed at raising students up and encouraging them to make positive life choices. There were numerous guest speakers, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Michael Crosslands and Beau Ryan, just to name a few. Our Dancers performed in amongst these motivational speakers with their piece “This Is Me.”

Our Kirrawee Dance students combined with Endeavour Sport High and Knox Grammar School, started learning the choreography back in Term 4, 2018 and have been rehearsing each month since. Endeavour and Kirrawee performers danced and Knox provided 20+ drummers. A special mention to Isabelle Bath, Ava Stewart and Brianna Smith who choreographed a tap sequence which they performed alongside a solo Drummer at the beginning of our segment. A huge congratulations to the girls for their motivation and professionalism during this collaborative process.

The whole day was such a wonderful experience. Our dancers were treated like VIP Guests with opportunities to meet and greet the Prime Minister, Premier and several of the guest speakers as well as dance alongside Timomatic.

I would like to congratulate each and every dancer who performed and those that unfortunately due to injury had to sit out. The Kirrawee kids showed dedication, professionalism, maturity and were such a pleasure to work with.

Big Thankyou to: Kelli Faulkner, Natasha Kavanagh, Tameika Fitzgerald, Isabelle Bath, Abbey Gould, Holly Jamieson, Mikaela Binns-Rorke, Grace Ruskin, Brianna Smith, Ava Stewart, Lara Sullivan, Elizabeth Williams, Sophie Beaumont, Talia Gibson, Olivia Pawlak, Daina Watson and Jack Robinson.
