ArtExpress is an annual exhibition of exemplary student artworks developed for the artmaking component of the HSC.

It includes a broad range of approaches and expressive forms, including ceramics, collection of works, documented forms, drawing, graphic design, painting, photo media , printmaking, sculpture, textiles and fibre and time based forms.

Every year the Visual Arts teachers take in all the senior students from year 10 – year 12 to the Art Gallery of NSW to view the exhibition, we then view the Yiribana Gallery and the moderns collection.

Helen Zhu from Year 12 2018 was successful in becoming part of this exhibition and her work will be touring regional galleries starting from Hazlehurst Regional Gallery.

Bloodline, Oil on canvas, triptych. Helen Zhu.

Also, Julian Hamman year 12, 2018 submitted a time based form in the genre of film noir for the HSC and although not part of ArtExpress, he has recently won a competition 3 jours á Cannes (3 days in Cannes) for aspiring young screenplay and cinematography artists worldwide.

It is a lengthy application in French and English (thank you Ms Quan and Ms Botros) and Julian was chosen and will be the only applicant from Australia.

He will be watching Quentin Tarantino’s new release with Tarantino in the United States. We look forward to watching this talented filmmaker and maybe one day standing up to receive an Oscar too.

The Visual Arts teachers Mrs Veljanovski, Mrs Falconer, Mrs Williamson, Ms McCrystal are all extremely proud of the results from our students in the 2018 HSC and we wish them the very best in the next stage of their life journey.
